Harry-Potter-and-the-Deathly-Hallows

Warner Bros just stated today that the first part of the last film of the Harry Potter saga, is not going to be released in 3D.

The original plan was to convert in post-production Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I in 3D (since it was filmed in 2D), but the studio felt that the quality was not good enough (which is good because 2D to 3D conversions has failed terribly lately)

Here’s the full statement:

We will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window…Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey.

The movie will still be released on IMAX, but only in 2D format on July 15, 2011 (also in regular movie theaters)

The final installment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, however WILL be released in 3D. Let’s hope they get it right.

Avatar special edition

James Cameron’s Avatar special edition just got released in 3D digital theaters and IMAX 3D today in America.

This new version of the epic movie features 8 minutes of new footage that wasn’t included in the original theatrical release.

It includes more scenes with the Na’vi.

There’s also an upcoming DVD release of the special edition that features even more footage (including the opening in Earth that was cut due to runtime)
