Peter Jackson

The Hobbit Dwarves

Another image from The Hobbit, this time showing the full gang of Dwarves. Looks pretty cool.

Also, Peter Jackson released a new funny production video showing a new place of shooting (I won’t spoil it) and also a few new surprises. See it embedded below.

Peter Jackson released a new production video from his epic The Hobbit 2 parts production. It features behind the scenes footage with Andy Serkis directing the second unit (and also playing Gollum in his mocap suit), some scenes featuring Legolas (played by Orlando Bloom), Elrond (Hugo Weaving) among others.

Pretty interesting stuff.

Also MSN released a new exclusive image of the characters Fili (Dean O’Gorman) and Kili (Aidan Turner).

fili and kili the hobbit

Here’s the backstory they provided with the picture:

Two of the youngest Dwarves, Fili and Kili have been born into the royal line of Durin and raised under the stern guardianship of their uncle, Thorin Oakensheild. Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them.

The production is on summer break for now, but as seen on the video, Peter is still pretty busy scooting for filming locations in the beautiful New Zealand landscape. Can’t wait to see all of this in glorious 3D!

All I can say is: WOW!

This new trailer is really amazing. Captain Haddock is spot on from the comics, also Tintin doesn’t look bad neither.

We can get a glimpse also at the main villain (played by Daniel Craig) and also Thompson and Thompson (played by the brilliant duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, keep in mind this movie was also written by Edgar Wright).

I can’t wait to see this movie, I was a huge fan of the comic book when I was a kid, so it’s a treat to see it translated properly on the big screen. November can’t come soon enough!

The Hobbit dori nori ori

Yahoo has published new images of the highly anticipated The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey directed by Peter Jackson based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit.

In the first image we can see the Dwarves Nori (Jed Brophy), Ori (Adam Brown) and Dori (Mark Hadlow).

Here is the description made by Yahoo about this characters:

These three brothers, all sons of the same mother, could not be more different from each other. Dori, the oldest, spends much of his time watching out for Ori, the youngest; making sure he’s not caught a chill or got himself killed by Wargs or Goblins. Nobody quite knows what Nori gets up to most of the time, except that it’s guaranteed to be dodgy and quite probably, illegal. Dori, Nori and Ori are intensely loyal to each other – and whilst they are perfectly happy fighting amongst themselves, woe-betide any anyone who means harm to one of these brothers.

In the second image below is Oin (John Callen) and Gloin (Peter Hambleton)

And here’s a small description about these:

Distant cousins of Thorin Oakenshield, these two doughty Northern Dwarves join the Company out of a sense of loyalty to their kin, and also because they have a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Along with Bombur, Gloin is the only other married Dwarf in the Company (there being a shortage of female dwarves in general). His wife is an acclaimed beauty with a particularly fine beard. Gloin is the proud father of a young son, Gimli, who will go on to become part of the famous Fellowship of the Ring.

Following the teaser trailer reveal 2 months ago, a new image just got released by Paramount pictures/Columbia Pictures featuring our favorite Belgium teenager (?) reporter Tintin and his friendly dog companion Milou.

As mentioned before, The Adventures of tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is directed by Steven Spielberg in his first entry into the bizarre world of hybrid animation/live action called performance capture (and already tried by his former protégée Robert Zemeckis but perfected by James Cameron). The movie is also being produced by Peter Jackson and his digital special effects studio Weta Digital. It is rumored that Jackson will direct the sequel, but this is still a moot point since he’s pretty busy with The Hobbit to really consecrate himself into it.

We can see that the photorealistic approach is really paying off. Of course, the movie will feature very exaggerated characters, such as Captain Haddock (being played by Andy Serkis), as seen before on this blog.

The movie is set for release starting this October in Europe and 23th of December in the United States on IMAX 3D and Real D 3D equipped theaters.

Entertainment Weekly just released the first official photos of Peter Jackson’s epic production ‘The Hobbit’

We can see Ian McKellen reprising his role of Gandalf (looking good BTW) and Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins

The two-parts prequel to the Lord of the Rings is still being in production.
