All I can say is: WOW!
This new trailer is really amazing. Captain Haddock is spot on from the comics, also Tintin doesn’t look bad neither.
We can get a glimpse also at the main villain (played by Daniel Craig) and also Thompson and Thompson (played by the brilliant duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, keep in mind this movie was also written by Edgar Wright).
I can’t wait to see this movie, I was a huge fan of the comic book when I was a kid, so it’s a treat to see it translated properly on the big screen. November can’t come soon enough!
Following the teaser trailer reveal 2 months ago, a new image just got released by Paramount pictures/Columbia Pictures featuring our favorite Belgium teenager (?) reporter Tintin and his friendly dog companion Milou.
As mentioned before, The Adventures of tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is directed by Steven Spielberg in his first entry into the bizarre world of hybrid animation/live action called performance capture (and already tried by his former protégée Robert Zemeckis but perfected by James Cameron). The movie is also being produced by Peter Jackson and his digital special effects studio Weta Digital. It is rumored that Jackson will direct the sequel, but this is still a moot point since he’s pretty busy with The Hobbit to really consecrate himself into it.
We can see that the photorealistic approach is really paying off. Of course, the movie will feature very exaggerated characters, such as Captain Haddock (being played by Andy Serkis), as seen before on this blog.
The movie is set for release starting this October in Europe and 23th of December in the United States on IMAX 3D and Real D 3D equipped theaters.
The official poster and first teaser trailer of The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is finally available online.
The movie, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson, is an adaptation of the legendary Belgium comic book series made by Herge.
The movie has been in development hell for more than 2 decades, but Spielberg got convinced by James Cameron’s Avatar that the technology to do the series justice had finally arrived.
Trailer embedded bellow.
The movie is still under post production, but it’s set to arrive worldwide starting this November in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D.
Empire Magazine just revealed the cover of their December 2010 issue and it features the first look at Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson joint production The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.
Spielberg always wanted to do a Tintin movie adaptation since the eighties, but now, with the technologies developed at Jackson’s Weta digital facilities (thanks to Avatar), he can make it the way he really wanted: with crazy looking cartoonish photorealistic characters.
So yeah, the movie is being made with performance capture and it looks like they are achieving what they are looking for.
Empire also released a couple of pictures showing Captain Haddock, portrayed by Andy Serkis (Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy).
